Northern Michigan's Guthrie Places Runner-Up; Earns GLIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its third weekly awards for the 2017 women's golf spring season. Northern Michigan sophomore Karissa Guthrie has been named GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week.


ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Karissa Guthrie, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan sophomore Karissa Guthrie paced the Wildcats, tying for second by shooting a two-round total of 146 (74-72). Indianapolis occupied the remaning four spots inside the top five. Guthrie fired a two-over par round of 74 in the first round and followed with an even-par round of 72 in Monday's final round at the NC4K College Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio. Guthrie led the field in Par 4 scoring by a sizeable margin shooting a combined three-under par (3.81) on the Par 4s. Overall, Northern Michigan posted a 624 (317-307) with her nearest competitor sitting at even par. The Wildcats finished ahead of 14 teams, including nine from the GLIAC.
