GVSU Captures 2017 GLIAC Women's Tennis Championship with Victory over Northwood; Tournament Begins Friday in Midland

2017 GLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Grand Valley State women's tennis team captured its fifth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular season title in a thrilling 5-4 decision against Northwood on Sunday evening. The Lakers finished the regular season undefeated with a 10-0 record, while the Timberwolves dropped to 9-1 in the title-deciding match.

GVSU will head to Midland, Michigan for the 2017 GLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament hosted at the Greater Midland Tennis Center beginning Friday, October 27th with quarterfinal action taking place at 6:45 PM. The Lakers will face No. 8 seed Ashland in the first round. The winner of this contest will battle the winner of No. 4 Saginaw Valley versus No. 5 Tiffin. No. 2 seed Northwood faces off with No. 7 Ferris State, while No. 3 Wayne State goes toe-to-toe with No. 6 Michigan Tech. 

Semifinal rounds begin Saturday at 3:45 PM with the final round commencing at 8:15 AM Sunday morning.
