GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the tenth weekly awards of the swimming and diving season. Grand Valley St. swept the Swim and Dive awards with sophomore Keegan Hawkins earning GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week accolades, while senior Mikalyla Karasok was named GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Keegan Hawkins - Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State sophomore Keegan Hawkins tallied three individual first-place finishes and was a part of a winning relay as the Lakers went 3-0 in dual meet action on its winter training trip to Florida. Hawkins won the 50 (26.47) and 100 breaststroke (57.38), while also hitting the wall first in the 100 IM (53.13). In addition, Hawkins swam the breaststroke on the Lakers’ first-place finishing 200 medley relay (1:l33.64).
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mikayla Karasek - Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State senior Mikayla Karasek tallied a first-place finish on the 1-meter board (277.45) and a second-place finish on the 3-meter board (255.50) in the Lakers 3-0 mark on its winter trip to Florida. Karasek is a six-time All-American and two-time GLIAC Champion on the 1-meter board.
