GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the 13th weekly awards of the swimming and diving season. Grand Valley State Junior Oscar Saura Armengol was awarded GLIAC Men's Athlete of the week, while Wayne state senior Mia Teifer earned GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Oscar Saura Armengol - Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State junior Oscar Saura Armengol tallied three individual wins and was a part of a relay that finished second as the #7 Lakers claimed a 157-142 victory over Wayne State. Saura Armengol touched the wall first in the 100 fly (49.15), 200 fly (1:49.23) and the 100 free (46.40), while being a part of the Lakres’ 400 medley relay team that finished second (3:24.83).
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mia Teifer - Wayne State
Wayne State University senior Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central) was named GLIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week. In the final home meet of her career, Teifer took first place in both diving events against Grand Valley State winning the one-meter board with an NCAA qualifying score of 275.40, and the three-meter board with 261.08 points.
