GVSU's Panning, Ludge and Weeks, and NMU's Juergen take Outdoor T&F week 2 awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following Week 2 of the 2018-19 outdoor track and field season. Grand Valley State's Allie Ludge, Zach Panning and Hunter Weeks received honors in women's track, men's track and men's field, respectively. Northern Michigan's Michelle Juergen was the women's field athlete of the week.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Allie Ludge - Grand Valley State

Junior Allie Ludge (Grand Rapids, Mich.) met provisional qualifying times and set personal records of 2:08.63 in the women's 800-meter run and 4:22.33 in the 1,500-meter run at the Raleigh Relays. She placed fourth in the 800 and 11th in the 1,500. She currently ranks first nationally in the 1,500 and sixth in the 800.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Michelle Juergen - Northern Michigan

Senior Michelle Juergen (Gau-Odernhim, Germany) won the women's high jump and placed second in the triple jump to help led Northern Michigan to a first-place finish at the five-team St. Norbert Invitational. She cleared 1.68 meters (5-6) in the high jump in wintry conditions to meet the provisional qualifying height. She ranks second in the GLIAC and 16th nationally in the event.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Zach Panning - Grand Valley State

Senior Zach Panning (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had an exceptional day at the Raleigh Relays, setting a school record of 28:30.77 to place third in the men's 10,000-meter run. His automatic qualifying time ranks among the top 10 all-time in NCAA Division II. It is the current fastest NCAA DII 10K time and broke his former record of 29:05.65.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Hunter Weeks - Grand Valley State

Senior Hunter Weeks (Homer, Mich.) placed third in the men's high jump with a provisional qualifying height of 2.06 meters (6-9) at the Florida Relays. He ranks first in the GLIAC and 10th nationally in the event.
