GLIAC — The All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf teams have been announced. Grand Valley State senior Katie Chipman has been named GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Year for the fourth straight year, while teammate Megan Miron earned freshman of the year and was also crowned Newcomer of the Year, which will only be awarded for the 2020-21 season. Chipman and Miron are led by Head Coach Rebecca Mailloux, who was named GLIAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Katie Chipman - Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior Katie Chipman has been selected as the GLIAC Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. Chipman, a three-time GLIAC Tournament medalist, is two-time WGCA All-American. Chipman tallied a stroke average of 72.50 during her final campaign for the Lakers, including tournament titles in the Findlay Spring Invitational and the GLIAC Tournament. Chipman recorded three top five finishes and five in the top 11. A GVSU women's golfer has now been named the GLIAC Player of the Year 12 times since 2001.
FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR & NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: Megan Miron | Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State freshman Megan Miron has been named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Miron recorded a stroke average of 74.71 for the year and finished in the top five three times. She finished third at the GLIAC Championship, fourth at the Cav Classic and fifth at the Findlay Spring Invite. Megan is the 11th Laker to be named GLIAC Freshman of the Year since 2001.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Rebecca Mailloux | Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State women's Golf coach Rebecca Mailloux has been named the GLIAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year, marking the ninth time of her career that she has been honored by the league. Mailloux guided the Lakers to three tournament titles, including the 2021 GLIAC Championship, and five top 10 finishes overall on the year. GVSU has captured 11 GLIAC Tournament titles and advanced to NCAA regional play 12 times during her career.
