FSU's VerHage and GVSU Rich are named GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after Week 3 of the 2021 women's soccer season. Ferris State senior forward Grace VerHage earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Grand Valley State junior goalkeeper Callie Rich claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace VerHage - Ferris State

Ferris State senior forward Grace VerHage (Otsego, Mich.) led the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs to a pair of decisive wins at Parkside and Purdue Northwest. VerHage tallied a team-leading 10 points with four goals and two assists in the weekend of work as FSU posted wins of 6-0 and 6-1, respectively. She had a hat trick with three goals and an assist in Friday's shutout win at Parkside before coming back with a goal and an assist in Sunday's 6-1 triumph at Purdue Northwest. For the weekend, she totaled 14 shots with 10 on goal for the Bulldogs, who ran their winning streak to five consecutive contests. Her effort included the game-winning goal in Friday's victory. 
 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Callie Rich - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior goalkeeper Callie Rich (Novi, Mich.) played 170 minutes in goal and recorded eight saves, including seven at Michigan tech, to help GVSU to a pair of  shutout wins in the Upper Peninsula to open conference play. The Lakers blanked Northern Michigan 4-0 and Michigan Tech, 2-0.
