GVSU's Fetty and MTU's VanLangevelde named GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 9 action of the 2023 women's soccer season. Grand Valley State junior midfielder Ryann Fetty earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition while Michigan Tech senior goalkeeper Gracie VanLangevelde received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryann Fetty, Grand Valley State

Ryann Fetty (Clinton Township, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Fetty scored the game-winning goal on Sunday to help the Lakers defeat Purdue Northwest 4-1. She also dished out an assist in the win over Purdue Northwest and now has two goals and three assists for seven points this season. The Lakers will close out the regular season this Thursday when they host Davenport in the crosstown Showdown at 7:00 PM. 


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gracie VanLangevelde, Michigan Tech

The Spring Lake, Michigan, native earned two shutouts over the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Ferris State on Friday (Oct. 27) and a 0-0 draw against Saginaw Valley on Sunday (Oct. 29). She saw eight total shots over the weekend, making four saves over two games with three saves against Ferris State and one save against Saginaw Valley en route to her 16th and 17th career shutouts. VanLangevelde’s performance in the net moved the Huskies to 8-2-7 overall and 7-1-5 in conference. Michigan Tech is on a seven-game unbeaten streak and a tie for second-place in the GLIAC standings. This is the second honor of the season for VanLangevelde.
