GLIAC Announces Winter 2009 Commissioner's Award RecipientsApril 14, 2009BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Winter 2009 recipients of the GLIAC Commissioners Awards for Academic and Athletic Excellence. The awards, sponsored by Meijer, Incorporated, are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six male and six female student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play.

Wayne State's Men and Women Place Second at NCAA D-II Swimming & Diving ChampionshipsMarch 14, 2009Houston, Texas -- The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming & diving teams both placed second at NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships in Houston, Texas. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) wis well represented as both Grand Valley State University teams placed ninth in the championships.

WSU's Hogle Named GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving "Athlete of the Year"February 20, 2009Jenison, Mich.-- Wayne State's Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Year. Grand Valley State's Lauren Dorsey (Howell, Mich.)was tabbed with Freshman of the Year honors and Coach of the Year accolades went to Andy Boyce from Grand Valley State.

Grand Valley State Wins 2009 GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving ChampionshipFebruary 14, 2009Jenison, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving team claimed its first-ever GLIAC Championship Saturday night at Jenison High School with a GLIAC Championship meet record 897 points. Wayne State finished second (869) and Indianapolis third (433).

2008-09 GLIAC Swimming & Diving ChampionshipFebruary 12, 2009The 2009 GLIAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championship will be held at Jenison High School and be hosted by Grand Valley State University. The championship will be February 11-14, 2009.
