GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards for the second time of the 2020 season. Davenport senior second baseman Nolan Bryant earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Saginaw Valley St. senior Brandon Wise captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nolan Bryant - Davenport
Bryant had a stellar week at the plate as Davenport rolled to a 4-1 record in Missouri. He batted .529 (9-17) and reached base at a .609 percentage with five walks. When on the basepaths, he stole three bases in three tries. He scored nine runs and collected two doubles, one home run and nine RBI. He had three three-hit games this week.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Wise - Saginaw Valley St.
Senior starting pitcher Brandon Wise earned his second victory over the season in Friday's 3-2 victory over Trevecca Nazarene. Wise worked 6.2 innings in the game, scattering five hits and allowing two runs (1 ER). He struck-out a season-high nine batters and walked zero for the Cardinals. Wise ranks second in the GLIAC with his 19 strikeouts and is fourth with his ERA of 2.16.
