NCAA Division II Football Championship bracket
GLIAC -- Ferris State and Grand Valley State will represent the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in the 2021 NCAA Division II Football Championship, the NCAA Division II Football Committee announced during the selection show on Sunday evening.
Ferris State received the program's seventh consecutive NCAA Division II postseason appearance, as the Bulldogs were selected as the number one seed in Super Region Three.
FSU will receive a first-round playoff bye and host a second-round matchup on Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Bulldogs' Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids.
Ferris State put together an undefeated regular season, posting a 10-0 record overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in GLIAC play. The Bulldogs enter the postseason as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation.
Grand Valley State earned a number four seed in NCAA DII Super Region Three and will host Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Champion Lindenwood (9-2) on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Lubbers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
GVSU will be making its 21st overall postseason appearance and its 20th appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Lakers are 35-14 overall in the NCAA postseason with four national championships and six title-game appearances. Grand Valley State is 21-3 in home postseason games.
The Lakers, ranked fifth nationally, finished the 2021 campaign 9-1 overall 6-1 in GLIAC action.
Should Grand Valley State advance, it would set up a rematch with GLIAC rival Ferris State in the second round. FSU won the regular season matchup in Allendale, 35-28. in the Anchor-Bone Classic.
On FSU's and GVSU's side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Harding will host Washburn and No. 3 Northwest Missouri State will host Central Washington.
