GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fourth week of the Men's Basketball season. Lake Superior State junior forward Kemon Bassett claimed GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland sophomore guard Brandon Haraway captured South Division accolades.

NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kemon Bassett  - Lake Superior State

Kemon Bassett has earned his second GLIAC North Player of the Week award of the season as the junior transfer led the Lakers to a pair of wins in the team’s three games played this week against Ferris State and Northern Michigan. Bassett, who previously played for Schoolcraft CC, started all three games this week for the Lakers and totaled 65 points in the trio of games. Bassett posted his second double-double of the season in LSSU’s 80-69 win over Ferris State on Tuesday with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Against NMU on Saturday, Bassett recorded another double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Lakers 70-60 win over the Wildcats. The Pre-Nursing major closed out the strong week of play with a season-high 25 points in the Lakers 91-70 loss against Northern Michigan.

SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Haraway - Ashland

Ashland University sophomore Brandon Haraway was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Haraway averaged 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49 percent (17-for-35) from the floor and 50 percent (6-for-12) from 3-point range in three games last week. After going for seven points and seven boards in a defeat to Wayne State on Tuesday, he bounced back for a monster weekend in a two-game sweep of host Davenport. The 6-foot-3 guard scored an AU season high 24 points and added five rebounds, five assists and two steals on Friday, and scored all 16 of his points on Saturday in the second half. The Norwalk, Ohio native leads the Eagles in scoring at 13.6 points per game and averages 5.4 rebounds per game.
