SVSU Sweeps GLIAC Men's Soccer Weekly Accolades

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 8 of the 2017 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley freshman midfielder Alberto Teatin earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley sophomore goalkeeper Connor Keane claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alberto Teatin, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley freshman midfielder Alberto Teatin scored his first career goal in Friday night's 2-0 shutout victory at Davenport. He added an assist on the game-winner in the team's 4-0 win Sunday at Ashland, giving him three points on the weekend. The Cardinals are now in sole possession of the GLIAC lead heading into Friday afternoon's matchup versus Northwood University.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Connor Keane, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore goalkeeper Connor Keane stopped all five shots he faced on goal over the weekend, including four in Friday night's 2-0 win at Davenport University. Another 4-0 win on Sunday at Ashland gave Keane two clean sheets on the weekend, upping his season total to seven. He is now 12-2-1 overall on the 2017 season and leads the GLIAC with a 0.66 goals-against average heading into Friday afternoon's match against Northwood for the GLIAC regular season title.
