FSU's Bond and Shannon earn GLIAC Golfer of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fourth weekly men's and women's golf awards of the 2024 spring season. Ferris State swept the awards, with sophomore Caleb Bond receiving GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors and sophomore Kamryn Shannon claiming GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Bond, Ferris State

Ferris State University's Caleb Bond led the Bulldogs to the team championship at the "FIndianapolis" Intercollegiate event on Monday and Tuesday (April 1-2), earning medalist honors in the tournament. Bond shot a two-day 207 stroke total for the 54 holes, finishing nine-under par for a two-shot win. He shot a 66 in round one and a 67 in round two before closing with a 74 score. His play helped the Bulldogs finish first overall in the six-team field as FSU shot a three-round 856 team total at eight-under par for the event, which took place at the Chariot Run Golf Club in Laconia, Ind.


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Kamryn Shannon, Ferris State

Ferris State University's Kamryn Shannon led the Bulldog women's team to a third-place team finish at the "FIndianapolis" Intercollegiate tournament on Monday and Tuesday (April 1-2) at Chariot Run Golf Club in Laconia, Ind. Shannon finished 10th individually on the leaderboard with a 229 figure for the 54 holes of action over the two days of competition. She shot a 77 in round one and back-to-back 76 scores in the final two rounds to finish at +13 overall. Her play helped FSU finish gwith a three-round 942 team figure, placing third at +78 in the seven-team field.
