NMU's Bittell and DU's Krueger earn women's lacrosse weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the first GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2024 season. Northern Michigan redshirt senior midfielder Minnie Bittell was selected offensive player of the week while Davenport junior midfielder Theadora Krueger earned defensive player of the week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Minnie Bittell, Northern Michigan

Minnie Bittell had an outstanding weekend for the ‘Cats, guiding NMU to two victories against GLVC opponents in the Lewis Flyers and Quincy Hawks. On Friday, Bittell scored six goals and one assist with a .857 shooting% en route to a 14-11 victory. Bittell continued to rewrite the NMU history books on Sunday, becoming the programs all-time leader in games played while tacking on five goals and four assists with a .810 shooting% for nine points to guide the ‘Cats to a 17-4 routing of the Hawks. Over the weekend, Bittell scooped six ground balls, caused three turnovers, and secured seven draw controls over two games to add to her 16 point weekend.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Theadora Krueger, Davenport

Theadora Krueger was named Defensive Player of the Week following a 12-8 road victory over the University of Charleston. Krueger led the team in groundballs and draw controls with six and 16, respectively. She was also perfect in free-position shots (two of two) to mark two goals in the win, helping the Panthers start the year undefeated.
