ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Doug Lipinski, Grand Valley State Deputy Director of Athletics for External Relations, announced the hiring of Jared Alexander as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sales and Marketing at Grand Valley State. Alexander, who most recently was the Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, will officially begin his duties at Grand Valley State on February 27, 2017.

"We are excited to have Jared join our team," said Lipinski. "His corporate sales and game operations experience will be a great asset to our department."

Alexander, who has served as the Assistant Director for External Relations at Missouri-St. Louis since 2012, provided direct supervision over corporate and community partnerships, athletics development and departmental marketing. His efforts led directly to a supplemental revenue stream for the athletic department and its athletics teams. In addition, Alexander handled game and event operations and the development and maintenance of the athletic facilities. Alexander was also the sport supervisor for men's and women's swimming & diving.

"I am excited for the opportunity to join the Grand Valley State University Athletics department and to be a part of a tradition of excellence that has identified the Lakers as the predominant NCAA Division II athletics program in the country," said Alexander. "It will be critical for our future success to continue developing relationships with those alumni, former student-athletes and members of the West Michigan community who have a passion for Laker Athletics."

While attending Indiana University as an undergraduate (2003-08), Alexander managed team travel and logistics for the Hoosier football program as an assistant to the head coach.

Alexander graduated from Indiana University in 2008 with a degree in Sport Communication and earned his Master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Central Missouri in 2015.
