UWP's Hau, GVSU's Van Tubbergen Named Men's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week two 2019-20 men's basketball season. Parkside sophomore Forward Brandon Hau earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State junior forward Jake Van Tubbergen was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Hau- Parkside


Hau helped the Rangers go 2-0 and claim the Parkside Invitational presented by HARIBO Championship -He scored 13 in a big overtime comeback win over Hillsdale, and added 12 rebounds to record his first double-double of the young season -He then finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in the lopsided victory over Minn.-Crookston on Saturday -Over the weekend, he shot 6-for-10 from beyond the arc including a couple of key makes down the stretch against Hillsdale


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jake Van Tubbergen - Grand Valley State

Jake Van Tubbergen earns his second GLIAC South Player of the Week honors in as many weeks as he continues a great start to his junior season. He scored a career-high 32 points with eight rebounds in the Lakers home win over Truman State Thursday night, going 10-11 from the free throw line and 10-17 from the field. He followed up with 16 points and five boards in the loss at UIndy despite a limited first half with foul trouble. He was 6-9 from the field and made it four-for-four in double-digit games to start the year, failing to hit the 20-mark for the first time this season.
