Four Women's Teams, Three Men's Squads Advance to NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Seven Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's and women's soccer teams advanced to the NCAA Division II Soccer Tournament.

On the women's side, Grand Valley State earned the No. 2 seed and a first round bye after capturing their eighth straight GLIAC Conference Tournament title on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Ohio Dominican. Last season, the Lakers won their third national championship, and will look to continue the tradition this season.

ODU claimed the No. 4 seed and will travel to the campus of Wisconsin-Parkside, who earned the No. 1 seed to battle No. 5 Saginaw Valley. The Panthers went on a 10-game winning streak that started on October 5 with a 3-2 win over Northern Michigan before falling to GVSU in the GLIAC Tournament Championship match, 2-1. SVSU ended the season with an overall record of 10-3-3. The Cardinals fell to Ashland in the quarterfinals of the GLIAC tournament, 5-2.

Michigan Tech is the final GLIAC school to make the tournament with the No. 3 seed. The Huskies fell to the Lakers in the GLIAC semifinal by a 5-0 final.

Meeting for the fourth time this season on the men's side, No. 2 Northwood will host No. 3 Saginaw Valley at in Midland. The teams met two times during the regular season, resulting in a draw and a 2-1 Northwood overtime victory. On Sunday (Nov. 9), the rivals met for the third time in the GLIAC Men's Championship final with Northwood prevailing 1-0.

Tiffin was the final GLIAC school to make the tournament as the No. 5 seed. The Dragons will travel to the campus of No. 1 Quincy to battle No. 4 Drury.
