GLIAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 2

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the second weekend of competition to begin the 2015 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley senior forward Tyler Channell earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying the game-winning goal against rival Northwood. Tiffin senior defender Oliver Verdult collect GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after the Dragons posted a pair of shutouts last week.

Offense
Tyler Channell Saginaw Valley State Forward Sr.

Highlights: Channell helped lead the No. 6 Cardinals to a 1-1 record over the weekend. The senior forward took advantage of his quality chances, putting them both in the back of the net. Channell's goal in the 76th minute proved to be the game-winning tally in a 2-1 triumph over rival No. 16 Northwood on the road.

Defense
Oliver Verdult Tiffin Defender Sr.
Highlights: Verdult led a rock solid Dragons defense in their 2-0 week, posting back-to-back shutouts over Heidelberg 1-0 and Findlay 2-0. TU's defense allowed just two shots on goal along with one corner kick to the Oilers while holding Heidelberg to just three shots on goal. Verdult also notched the first goal of the contest against Findlay. The Dragons are currently 3-0-1 and have posted three consecutive shutouts.
