FSU's Anderson, AU's Loomis Named Women's Basketball  Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the 15th week of the 2019-20 season. Ferris State junior guard Adrienne Anderson earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Ashland senior forward Sara Loomis captured South Division Player of the Week. 


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior guard Adrienne Anderson led the Bulldogs to a pair of big GLIAC road wins over the weekend as FSU claimed the GLIAC North Division Championship outright, giving the program its first league title since 2012 and only the third in school history. Anderson averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in back-to-back wins at Purdue Northwest and Wisconsin-Parkside. She opened the week with 16 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists in a 57-50 win over the Pride before coming back with a team-high 22 points, six boards, five assists and a steal in a 89-87 win over the Rangers. She shot 48.1% from the floor and 57.1% from the three-point arc on the week while making eight-of-nine (.889) free throws.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sara Loomis - Ashland

As announced by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Monday (Feb. 24) afternoon, Ashland University senior forward Sara Loomis has earned her third GLIAC South Division Player of the Week award for the season, and the fifth of her Eagle career.
In two road victories last week vs. Saginaw Valley State (94-69) and Northwood (77-56) for the No. 2-ranked Eagles, Loomis averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game, and shot 64.3 percent from the field, 60.0 percent from 3-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Heading into the final game of the 2019-20 regular season, Loomis ranks in the top 10 in the GLIAC in scoring (fourth, 16.8 ppg.), field-goal percentage (tied for eighth, 54.4), 3-point field-goal percentage (second, 50.6), free-throw percentage (second, 87.0), rebounds (fourth, 8.5 rpg.) and blocked shots (second, 2.2 bpg.).
