GVSU's Chipman repeats as GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Year, while NU's Dorado is freshman of the year and GVSU's Mailloux coach of the year

GLIAC — The All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf teams have been announced. Grand Valley State sophomore Katie Chipman has been named GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Year for 2019, and GVSU's Rebecca Mailloux was named GLIAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year. Northwood's Ines Dorado received the freshman of the year award.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Katie Chipman - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State University's Katie Chipman (Plymouth, Mich.) has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Year after taking home the 2019 GLIAC Tournament individual title while helping guide the Lakers to their 10th conference championship in the last 11 years. GVSU dominated the stroke-play portion of the event as Chipman was one of four Lakers in the top five. She defeated teammate Maria Sol Pose in a playoff hole to earn her second straight individual GLIAC championship. In her 11 events and 24 total rounds this season, Chipman is averaging a 73.96 on the course and set a new career-low with a 66 in the Lakers match-play victory over Wayne State in the GLIAC Tournament. On the season, she finished inside the top 10 eight times while taking medalist honors at the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite, NCAA DII National Preview, and, most recently, the conference tournament.

FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR: Ines Dorado - Northwood

Northwood's Ines Dorado (Barcelona, Spain), who recorded her first-ever hole in one during the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, is the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Dorado posted a scoring average of 78.41 and had three top-five finishes. She tied for 11th at the GLIAC Tournament with an 82-76--158. She tied for third in Jacksonville, Fla., in March, and tied for fourth in Perry Park, Ky., in April.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Rebecca Mailloux - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State's head coach Rebecca Mailloux has been named the GLIAC Coach of the Year for the eighth time in her career and second time in as many seasons. She's guided the Lakers to 10 conference championships in the last 11 years and has coached GVSU junior Katie Chipman to back-to-back conference player of the year and tournament champion titles. This season alone, the Lakers earned top-10 finishes in all 10 of their events, including wins at the West Texas A&M Desert Invite and the GLIAC Championships. In the conference tournament, the Lakers took home four of the top-five spots with Chipman winning, Maria Sol Pose finishing second and Mackenzie Blomberg and Erin Johnson tying for third place in the 50-individual tournament.
