FSU's Cappel, GVSU's Primus Earn GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week nine of the 2019 volleyball season. Ferris State senior Allyson Cappel earned GLIAC Volleyball North Player of the week honors, while Grand Valley State freshman Jaeli Primus was awarded GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week accolades. 


 NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Allyson Cappel, Ferris State 

Ferris State University senior outside hitter Allyson Cappel led the 20th-ranked Bulldogs to a weekend home sweep in league action at the Ewigleben Sports Arena. She totaled 34 kills with 29 digs, two blocks and an ace while hitting .320 overall for the weekend as the Bulldogs topped Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State to stay near the top of the GLIAC race. Cappel produced 26 kills and 22 digs with two blocks in Friday's 3-2 win over SVSU before adding eight kills and seven digs in only two sets of work as FSU swept LSSU on Saturday. She averaged 5.2 points per set along with 4.86 kills and 4.14 digs on the weekend.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jaeli Primus, Grand Valley St.

Grand Valley State middle blocker Jaeli Primus helped the Lakers win their fourth straight match after a 3-1 win over Davenport on Saturday. The freshman recorded 16 kills with an impressive .640 attack percentage (0 errors) while adding seven blocks to her league-leading total. Primus currently has 104 total blocks (1.18 per set) which is 13 more than the next highest total in the GLIAC.
