GLIAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 1

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the first weekend of competition to begin the 2016 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley State senior forward Jordan Kalk earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Lake Erie senior Kenneth Kolke claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jordan Kalk, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley State senior forward Jordan Kalk picked-up right where he left off last year, scoring two goals in as many matches to lead No. 21 SVSU to a pair of regional home victories over Lewis (2-1) and St. Joseph's (3-1). In the process, he tied the all-time career goal record with his 39th in a Cardinal uniform. On the week, Kalk produced nine shots putting four of those on target with one game-winning goal.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kenneth Kolke, Lake Erie

Lake Erie senior defender Kenneth Kolke anchored a Storm defensive unit who posted a pair of shutouts over the first weekend of the season. Kolke and his back-line teammates allowed just two shots on goal in a 2-0 victory over Roberts Wesleyan before recording a 1-0 shutout on the road at Slippery Rock where LEC did not allow a single shot on goal. In addition, Kolke found the back of the net in the 72nd minute vs. Roberts Wesleyan to extend the Lake Erie edge to 2-0.
