NU's Brown, NMU's Metcalfe Collect GLIAC Men's Soccer POW Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the seventh weekend of the regular season. Northern Michigan freshman forward Nick Metcalfe earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Northwood freshman goalkeeper Brendan Brown claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Nick Metcalfe, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan freshman forward Nick Metcalfe made the most of his scoring opportunites and found the back of the twice for his first goals of the year. Metcalfe scored Northern's game-tying goal in the 67th minute which eventually ended in a 1-1 tie at Lake Erie on Friday. He finished the weekend by notching the game-winning goal in the 36th minute on Sunday in a 2-1 victory over Walsh.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brendan Brown, Northwood

Northwood freshman goalkeeper Brendan Brown went 2-0-1 last week and registered a 0.67 goals-against average and a shutout for Timberwolves last week. Brown recorded eight saves in a 1-1 draw with No. 14 Tiffin on Wednesday before earning a 2-1 victory at Ashland on Friday after making three stops. Brown and his NU teammates completed the week with a 3-0 shutout victory at Ohio Dominican as he made four saves. Overall, Brown notced 15 saves and an .882 save percentage for the Timberwolves.
