ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The 2015 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships were a big success with a total of 60 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) student-athletes earning All America honors by placing inside the top eight. The championships took place May 21-23 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State University Track and Field Complex.
In the men's team competition, Findlay finished runner-up with 50 points. The Oilers led after each of the first two days, but were edged out by St. Augustine's in the end as the Falcons came up with a big day on Saturday to claim a three-point win over the Oilers with 53 points. The Oilers also finished as the runner-up during the indoor season, falling five points behind Adams State in the standings. Ashland finished third for the second consecutive year with 43 points. It is the sixth time they have finished fourth or higher at outdoor nationals. Grand Valley State placed 10th with 30 points.
On the women's side, GVSU's women placed fourth with 41 points. Ashland took seventh with 29 points, while Hillsdale took eighth with 26 points.
GLIAC teams compiled six national championships at the national meet with another ten earning runner-up finishes.
