2021 All-GLIAC Softball Teams Announced

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2021 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and postseason awards in conjunction with the conference's annual softball tournament at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio. The awards were voted on by the conference softball coaches.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Nikoma Holmen, Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State senior first baseman Nikoma Holmen has been named the GLIAC Player of the Year for the 2021 season. She finished the regular season as GLIAC leader in batting average (.389) and RBI (43) while ranking third in home runs (8). She earned one GLIAC Player of the Week honor for the year. The cleanup hitter in the Laker lineup in every game this season, Holmen led the Lakers to lead the GLIAC in hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored and RBI.

PITCHER OF THE YEAR: Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State sophomore Hannah Beatus has been named GLIAC Pitcher of the Year for the 2021 season. She went 18-2 overall for the regular season and a perfect 15-0 in GLIAC games. Her 18 wins, seven shutouts and 1.05 ERA all led the GLIAC while her .188 opponent batting average and 149 strikeouts ranked second. Beatus, who was three-time GLIAC Pitcher of the Week, hurled her second-career no-hitter in a win over Purdue Northwest that also clinched the Lakers' GLIAC regular season championship.

FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR: Megan Koenigshof, Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State third baseman Megan Koenigshof has earned GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors for the 2021 season. The lefty ranks fifth in the conference in batting average (.373), 10th in hits (47), 11th in runs scored (26) and notched three doubles and two triples and went six for seven in stolen base attempts. A shortstop by trade, she was the mainstay at third base for the Lakers this season and was solid defensively for a Laker team that led the conference in fielding percentage this season (.974).

COACH OF THE YEAR: Dana Callihan, Grand Valley St.

Grand Valley State head coach Dana Callihan has earned her fourth straight GLIAC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Lakers to their fourth consecutive GLIAC regular season championship, going 37-7 overall and 28-4 in conference play. Offensively, the Lakers led the GLIAC in team hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored and RBI.
