Indoor Track and Field Week 8 Athletes of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the eighth weekend of the 2019-20 indoor track and field season. Saginaw Valley St. swept the women's awards with senior Lauren Huebner earning track athlete of the week, while freshman teammate Timyah Meeks was awarded field athlete of the week. On the men's side, Parkside junior Brock Eves was named track athlete of the week, while Grand Valley St. junior Hunter Harding secured field athlete of the week honors. 


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK -  Lauren Huebner, Saginaw Valley St.

SVSU senior Lauren Huebner set a new program record in the 400 Meters, crossing the finish line with a time of 55.92 seconds on Friday (Feb. 21) at the SVSU Tune-up Meet to win the race. That time ranks her 18th in the nation currently and it is the second-best mark in the GLIAC this season. 


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Timyah Meeks, Saginaw Valley St. 

Cardinal freshman Timyah Meeks broke her own program record in the weight throw, posting a distance of 62' 5" at the SVSU Tune-up Meet on Friday (Feb. 21) to best her previous mark by just over two feet. That performance has her ranked fifth in the nation and she now has the third-best distance in the GLIAC.  


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK -  Brock Eves, Parkside 

Brock Eves was a part of Parkside’s Track & Field team to compete at Notre Dame over the weekend at the Alex Wilson Invitational. Eves took second at the event, and broke a school record in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:21.30. He broke a school record that was previously held by Ben Orvold who ran a 8:25.23 in 2012.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Hunter Harding, Grand Valley St. 

Hunter Harding captured the GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor following his performance at the GVSU Tune-Up on Friday.  The Laker junior recorded a 19.85m launch in the weight throw, claiming first place and a provisional qualification.  This is Harding’s first GLIAC weekly accolade of his career.
