PNW's Pampreen, FSU's Vallone garner GLIAC women's soccer weekly accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the first weekend of competition to begin the 2023 women's soccer season. Purdue Northwest graduate student midfielder Kaci Pampreen earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Ferris State sophomore defender Bella Vallone received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kaci Pampreen, Purdue Northwest

Graduate Kaci Pampreen got off to a hot start to begin the 2023 season for Purdue Northwest scoring four goals in two games with one assist and nine points total. She ended the opening week with a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage and two game-winning goals to start the year.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bella Vallone, Davenport

Ferris State University sophomore defender Bella Vallone helped lead FSU to back-to-back regional home wins over the weekend in Big Rapids as the nationally sixth-ranked Bulldogs started the year with a 2-0 mark. Vallone scored the eventual game-winner on Sunday in a 3-1 home win over Northwood with a tally in the 10th minute of action. Her play defensively was also a key as FSU posted a shutout over defending GLVC champion Maryville (Mo.) by a 2-0 score on Thursday and gave up only a single goal to NU on Sunday, which included several key efforts in the second half as the Timberwolves tried to mount a charge. For the weekend, she totaled three shots and played a key role as a leader for a young core.
