NMU's Pistorius, Parkside's Guyer named GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week 2 of the 2023 women's soccer season. Northern Michigan sophomore Molly Pistorius was honored as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Parkside goalkeeper Izzy Guyer was recognized as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Molly Pistorius, Northern Michigan

Reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Northern Michigan University sophomore forward Molly Pistorius continued her 2023 campaign tear over the weekend, adding on another hat-trick to extend her goal total to six in four games to go along with her one assist. Across all of D2 women’s soccer, Molly is the only student-athlete with multiple hat-tricks (2), and she is T1 in
goals (6), second in points (13) and shots on goal per game (4.00), T2 in game-winning goals (2), T3 in goals per game (1.50), T5 in shot accuracy (.875), and sixth in points per game (3.25).


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Izzy Guyer, Parkside

Top tier goalkeeping of Izzy Guyer has the Rangers off to a hot start in 2023 leading to Guyer receiving the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) women’s soccer defensive player of the week. While in action against Minnesota State University Moorhead, Guyer picked up her first clean sheet in 2023 behind a 7 save outing. Guyer and company also accounted for another clean sheet this Sunday against Concorida-St.Paul. Guyer this season holds a .938 save percentage and ranks 19th nationally in that category in Division II.
