Davenport's Petravicius, Grand Valley State's Smith Selected GLIAC Baseball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week six of the 2018 campaign. Davenport senior outfielder Austin Petravicius earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State junior Josh D. Smith captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Austin Petravicius, Davenport

Davenport senior outfielder Austin Petravicius led the team with a .438 batting average as the Panthers took three of four from Wayne State in their first-ever GLIAC action. He went 7-for-16 with four doubles and five RBI. He drove all of those runs and set a career-high in DU's 10-4 win on Saturday going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Josh D. Smith, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior Josh D. Smith tossed a complete-game, 1-hitter in the Lakers? 6-0 win in the third game of the series at Purdue Northwest. Smith struck out four and allowed just a second inning single in his first start of the season. Smith is 2-1 on the year with a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts.
