Parkside's Arni and GVSU's Bisballe selected for GLIAC women's basketball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Parkside freshman guard Cassidy Arni has been selected as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Grand Valley State redshirt junior forward Rylie Bisballe has received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Week 9 of the 2023-24 women's basketball season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cassidy Arni, Parkside

Cassidy Arni has been voted GLIAC offensive player of the week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Arni dropped a career high 22 points in Parkside’s victory over Purdue Northwest. Arni, just a freshman, turned in a career performance against the Purdue Northwest Pride. The guard racked up a career high 22 points while shooting 8-11 from the field. It’s the first time a Ranger has scored over 20 points this season since November 27th against Northern State. Arni is now averaging 8.1 ppg while shooting an astonishing 63% percent from the field this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State

For the second time this season, Grand Valley State junior forward Rylie Bisballe has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Bisballe has been the anchor of the Laker defense that has held five consecutive opponents to less than 50 points, including this past weekend in wins over SVSU and Wayne State. In the 76-38 win over the Cardinals, Bisballe has 17 points, six rebounds, one block, and one assist, and she played a key role in holding the Cardinals to just 35% shooting in the game. She followed that up with an even better performance against Wayne State on Saturday, scoring a season-high 21 points, grabbing nine rebounds, while adding four steals, and three blocks to lead GVSU to an 81-48 victory. The Warriors shot just 31% from the floor and Bisballe shut down Wayne State’s leading scorer to just seven points, six points below her average. The Lakers are the top-ranked team in the country, sitting at 14-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in GLIAC play.
