GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 1

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the opening weekend of the 2016 volleyball season. Saginaw Valley State senior middle hitter Kaylee Schmitt earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Ashland senior outside hitter Alli Cudworth captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kaylee Schmitt, Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State senior middle hitter Kaylee Schmitt compiled a .348 hitting percentage over the weekend in leading the Cardinals to a 2-2 split at the Point Loma Invite. She notched 41 kills, averaging 3.42 per set, while adding 10 blocks for the weekend. Schmitt was selected to the all-tournament team for her weekend performance in California.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alli Cudworth, Ashland

Ashland senior outside hitter Alli Cudworth led the Eagles to a perfect 4-0 opening weekend with 77 kills, including three 20-plus kill performances. On the week, Cudworth hit .286 on 182 attempts along with 41 digs, seven block assists and six service aces.
