Grand Valley State's Men and Women Picked First in USTFCCCA Regional Preseason Cross Country Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the preseason regional rankings for the NCAA Division II 2014 season.

The No. 1 men’s teams by region to start the season are Shippensburg (Atlantic), Augustana (S.D.) (Central), American International (East), Grand Valley State (Midwest), Saint Leo (South), Adams State (South Central), Mount Olive (Southeast), and Chico State (West).

Four other GLIAC schools made the preseason top-10 list with Ferris State coming in at fourth, followed by Ashland in fifth, Malone in sixth, and Hillsdale in eighth.

Top women’s teams include Edinboro (Atlantic), Minnesota Duluth (Central), Stonehill (East), Grand Valley State (Midwest), Tampa (South), Adams State (South Central), Wingate (Southeast), and Chico State (West). 

Hillsdale was second in the preseason rankings, followed by Saginaw Valley in third, Malone in fifth, Northern Michigan in sixth, Wayne State (MI) in ninth and Ashland in 10th.
