GLIAC Honors Men's and Women's Swimmers and Divers of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 6 of the 2021-22 swimming & diving season. Wayne State sophomore Alex Capizzo and junior Jordan Fox swept the swimming awards while Saginaw Valley State divers Adrien McGill and Libby Caird claimed the women's honors. 


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Alex Capizzo - Wayne State

Wayne State's Alex Capizzo (Fraser, Mich.) had a strong showing at the Don Kimble Invitational this past weekend, helping the Warriors to a first-place finish at the event. Capizzo had individual wins in the 200-yard fly (1:50.62), 400-yard IM (3:59.16), 500-yard freestyle (4:37.21) and 200-yard IM (1:52.49). He also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:21.22), 800-yard freestyle relay (6:43.06) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:00.83) teams finish in first place.


WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Jordan Fox - Wayne State

Wayne State's Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) continues to find success in the pool this season, as she put together another strong showing at the Don Kimble Invitational. She placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.41) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.55), while taking second place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.50). She also aided a pair of relay teams, with the Warriors' 400-yard freestyle relay (3:25.94) and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:34.91) teams collecting victories.


MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Adrien McGill - Saginaw Valley State

SVSU's Adrien McGill (Grand Ledge, Mich.) swept the diving events on the men's side. He scored 396.20 points in the 1-meter event, and 431.20 points in the 3-meter dive. It is the third time this season McGill has won both diving events in the same meet.


WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Libby Caird - Saginaw Valley State

SVSU's Libby Caird (Jenison, Mich.) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. The senior set a school record with 11 dives in the 1-meter competition and finished with a score of 454.35 points. In the 3-meter dive, Caird scored 457.50 points.
