GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its player of the week awards following week seven of the women's basketball season. Ferris State sophomore guard Mallory McCartney earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Saginaw Valley State sophomore guard Kaitlyn Zarycki was named South Division Player of the Week.
NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mallory McCartney - Ferris State
Ferris State University sophomore guard Mallory McCartney had a big week for the Bulldogs as they won two of three contests. McCartney averaged 20.3 points per game on the week along with 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals. She totaled a career and game-high 38 points on 15-of-21 shooting, which included a 7-of-11 effort from the three-point line, to wrap up the stretch on Saturday as FSU bounced back after a double-overtime setback against Purdue Northwest to post an impressive 84-49 triumph. McCartney reached double-digits in all three games and shot nearly 45% from the floor along with 78% at the line. For the week, she totaled 61 points, 23 rebounds, 11 assists and six steals.
