FSU's Ndumbe and GVSU's Soteras honored as GLIAC Tennis Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its sixth tennis weekly awards for the 2024 campaign. Ferris State sophomore Esunge Ndumbe was named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Grand Valley State sophomore Anna Soteras earned GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week recognition. 


MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Esunge Ndumbe, Ferris State

Ferris State University men's tennis standout Esunge Ndumbe had a big week for the Bulldogs on FSU's annual spring break trip to Florida. The sophomore standout from Texas, who is ranked 48th nationally in singles play, notched a pair of singles wins, including an impressive 6-4, 7-5 singles win at the number two flight over the nation's #2-ranked competitor Vincent Thiel in FSU's road contest at nationally third-ranked Saint Leo (Fla.). He also teamed up with Benjamin Lortie for a 6-3 doubles win at the top flight in the Bulldogs' contest against NCAA Division 1 Belmont and finished the week by winning both at one singles and one doubles in FSU's 4-3 regional triumph over Rockhurst (Mo.) near Orlando.


WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Anna Soteras, Grand Valley State

Anna Soteras has been named the GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the first time this season. Soteras went 3-0 in singles action last week from the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. She posted a straight set win at No. 3 singles against Concordia Irvine. Soteras claimed two wins at No. 4 singles against Azusa Pacific and Biola. Soteras is 8-2 in singles play this season.
