GLIAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Week 8

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the final GLIAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards heading into the conference meet. For the men, Tiffin senior Joel Johnson earned GLIAC Runner of the Week, while his fellow Dragon teammate junior Coy Blair collected GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades for the second time this season. Grand Valley State sophomore Beatriz Indurain earned GLIAC Runner of the Week on the women's side and Ashland senior Megan Tomei was awarded GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Grand Valley St. 110 Hurdles Sr.

Highlights: Placed 2nd in the 110m Hurdles at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina this weekend. His time is an NCAA Provisional mark and currently ranks him #2 in the NCAA.

Highlights: Coy Blair, junior from Logan, Ohio, continued to shatter records for the Dragons, obliterating his own TU shot put record with a put of 63-0 (19.2 meters) to win the Kent State Tune Up. The toss hit an NCAA Automatic qualifier mark and currently ranks him 1st in the GLIAC and 2nd in the NCAA.

Discus: No. 1 GLIAC, No. 4 NCAA - NCAA Provisional Qualifier

Grand Valley State Sprints So.

Highlights: Placed 5th in the 100 meter dash at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina, but her time of 11.87 in the prelim is an NCAA Provisional mark. Also ran an NCAA Provisional time of 24.21 in the 200 to place 9th. Ritter also ran a leg on the GVSU 4x400 meter relay which provisionally qualified as well. 

Ranks: 100 dash: No. 4 NCAA, No. 1 GLIAC - NCAA Provisional Qualifier

200 dash: No. 2 NCAA, No. 1 GLIAC - NCAA Provisional Qualifier

Grand Valley State Pole Vault Sr.

Highlights: Ashland junior Megan Tomei’s mark of 16.00 meters/52-feet-6 was good for second at the Ohio Staet Tune-Up, and it also is the second-best mark in both the country and the GLIAC this winter to teammate Jamie Sindelar. That mark also earned Tomei automatic qualification for the 2016 NCAA Division II indoor national championships, March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.
