NCAA Division II Women's Golf East Super Regional
CANTON, Ohio -- Grand Valley State sits in second place after 36 holes at the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf East Super Regional hosted by Walsh University at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The Lakers have posted a +31 total overall for the first two days, four shots in front of Missouri-St. Louis in the third spot as the low three teams and the low three individuals not on those teams from each of the four super regionals will advance to the national championships. hosted at the Findlay Country Club.
GVSU's Maria Sol Pose leads the Lakers in solo fourth place at 1-over par for the week following rounds of 70 and 75. Alex Taylor is positioned 11th at +9, while Julie Guckian is one stroke back at +10 in a tie for 15th.
The University of Findlay dropped back one spot to fourth at +52 and will have to make a final round charge to jump back inside the coveted top three. GLIAC Golfer of the Year senior Shelby Warner is 9-over par for the event and sits T11th heading into Day 3.
Ashland senior Kaitlin Neumann played herself into contention for a spot at nationals after an even-par round of 72 on Tuesday. Neumann resides just three shots back of a trip to Findlay. Neumann's day included three birdies, and she shot 1-under in the final 12 holes of the day. The Eagles are in eighth place in the 12-team field.
Northern Michigan is currently in seventh (+70) with Caro Els leading the Wildcats at +11 through two days in a tie for 17th. Northwood is tied for 10th at +95 with Grace Cannon T32nd at +16 total. Qualifying for regionals as an individual, Ferris State sophomore Destiny Lawson fired 74-79 and is positioned 11th at +9 for the week.
