GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its first weekly men's and women's golf awards of the 2023 fall season. Saginaw Valley State sophomore Shea Harmeson received men's golfer of the week honors while Davenport sophomore Lauren Gervais earned women's golfer of the week recognition.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Shea Harmeson, Saginaw Valley State
Shea Harmeson had a huge performance in the first tournament of the 2023-24 season as he won the B&R Investments Bulldog Classic after shooting an incredible 66 in round three to finish with a total score of 210. Harmeson was five strokes ahead of second place and climbed back from ninth place after the first round to become the medalist. Harmeson added all-tournament to his list of accomplishments on the season for his performance.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Lauren Gervais, Davenport
Lauren Gervais helped the Panthers finish in a tie for fourth place over the weekend at the Ohio Dominican Champions Classic. The Panthers finished one spot better as a team from last year's event. Lauren completed the tournament in a tie for sixth place with a total score of 151. She shot 76 in the opening round and 75 in the final round. Gervais was able to card two birdies in the final round on the par-3, fifth hole and par-4, 11th hole at Champions Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio.
