GVSU's Wheeler and FSU's Shannon named GLIAC Golfers of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly men's and women's golf awards of the 2024 spring season. Grand Valley State sophomore Bryce Wheeler was named GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week, while Ferris State sophomore Kamryn Shannon collected GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. 


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Bryce Wheeler, Grand Valley State

For the first time in his career, Bryce Wheeler has been named GLIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week. Wheeler and the Lakers closed out the regular season this week at the Ken Partridge Invitational. Wheeler placed in a tie for third to help GVSU take the team title. He shot rounds of 70, 71, and 72 to end at 213. He made 14 birdies throughout the tournament. This was the highest finish of Wheeler’s career and his third career top-10 finish.


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Kamryn Shannon, Ferris State

Ferris State University's Kamryn Shannon led the Bulldogs to a strong finish in the NC4K Classic, which took place on Monday and Tuesday (April 8-9) at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Ohio. Shannon climbed up the leaderboard to seventh overall individually with a two-round 150 total. She shot a 79 in round one before coming back with a 71 in the final round. Her play helped the Bulldogs move into third-place overall in the 14-team field.
