WSU's DiCarlo and NMU's Hunter claim GLIAC Golfer of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its third weekly men's and women's golf awards of the 2024 spring season. Wayne State redshirt senior Josh DiCarlo captured GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors, while Northern Michigan junior Maya Hunter was recognized as GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Josh DiCarlo, Wayne State

Redshirt senior Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) was named GLIAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Thursday.  DiCarlo garnered runner-up honors out of 90 golfers on Tuesday at the Findlay Spring Invitational and led Wayne State to the team title in an 18-team regional field.  The Canadian carded a three-round score of 211 (-5, 67-75-69) for his highest finish since winning the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on March 12, 2022.


WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Maya Hunter, Northern Michigan

The NMU women's golf team fired on all cylinders this weekend, finishing second as a team, and boasting the second-best individual on the field in Maya Hunter. Hunter was steady, posting a first-round 78 before knocking four strokes off her second-round score of 74 for a weekend score of 152 (+8), finishing second behind Paramore of Ashland (74, 73 - 147), and two strokes ahead of Quincy's Novosel (79, 75 - 154).
