DU's Bodis, FSU's Shannon earn GLIAC golfer of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly men's and women's golf awards of the 2023 fall season. Davenport graduate student Brandon Bodis was honored as GLIAC men's golfer of the week while Ferris State sophomore Kamryn Shannon was recognized as GLIAC women's golfer of the week.

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Bodis, Davenport

For the second time this fall, Brandon Bodis of the Davenport men's golf team has been named GLIAC Golfer of the Week. The graduate led the Panthers to a first-place finish (tied with Keiser University) out of 15 teams at the Whistling Straits Championship on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 23-24) in Sheboygan, Wis. The Avon Lake, Ohio native won the event, shooting 151 (+7) with a low round of 72 on the second day. Bodis has had a dominant fall season, now finishing as a medalist in two of the last three tournaments and finishing second overall at the Davenport Panther Invite a week ago. In his career with DU, he has now finished in the top-five 15 times in six years.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Kamryn Shannon, Ferris State

Ferris State University standout golfer Kamryn Shannon led the Bulldogs to the team championship at the Bill Crabtree Invitational, which took place on Sunday and Monday (Oct. 22-23) in Owensboro, Ky. Shannon earned runner-up honors individually with an even-par 144 score for the two rounds, shooting a 73 on Monday in the final round after opening with a one-under 71 on Sunday. She finished only four shots behind the individual medalist in the tournament and her play was a key as FSU claimed a six-stroke win over runner-up Maryville in the 15-team field. The event marked the final competition of the fall slate for the Bulldogs.
