GLIAC Cross Country Athletes of the Week - Week 2

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the second week of the 2016 cross country season. Saginaw Valley State junior Allison Dorr captured GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women's side, while Ferris State senior Logan Hammer garnered the men's weekly award.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Allison Dorr, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley State junior Allison Dorr finished in second place over the weekend at the Ray Helsing Invitational, hosted by Ferris State University. Dorr posted a time of 18:41.9 in the 5K race, marking her best time for that distance by 18 seconds in leading the Cardinals to a third place finish in the event.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Logan Hammer, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior runner Logan Hammer opened the 2016 campaign in a big way as he won the individual championship at the 42nd annual Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 10) at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. Hammer's performance helped the Bulldogs also claim the team championship in the season-opening event on the home course. He clocked 26:14.6 in the 8k race and was the first of four Bulldogs to finish in the top four spots on the final leaderboard. Hammer was the runner-up in the same race a year ago and bettered his time by more than 40 seconds in this year's race.
