Grand Valley State Hosts 2018 GLIAC Cross Country Championships Saturday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at Gainey Athletic Complex on the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids hosted by Grand Valley State University. 

All the action takes place Saturday morning with the men's 8k beginning at 11:00 AM, while the women's 6k race is slated for a 11:45 AM start.

Five programs are ranked inside the Top 25 of the USTFCCCA Rankings entering this weekend's championship meet with the Grand Valley State men and women ranked No. 3 in their respective polls. The Lakers host the meet looking to extend their consecutive GLIAC titles streaks, currently 17 straight for the women and 16 consecutive for the men. GVSU and head coach Jerry Baltes will rely on seniors Zach Panning in men's competition, while graduate transfer Sarah Berger and junior Allie Ludge look to contend for the top spot leading the GVSU women.

The Saginaw Valley men and women are currently ranked as well with the Cardinal men slated No. 10 with Tom Goforth leading the way as the SVSU women are 25th. The Michigan Tech women are also ranked No. 24 in the last rankings of the regular season schedule.
