AU's Allen, WSU's McInereny Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its seventh weekly baseball awards of the 2021 Baseball season. Ashland senior Micah Allen was awarded Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State senior Dillon McInereny was awarded Pitcher of the Week accolades. 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Micah Allen, Ashland

The Cincinnati, Ohio native batted .571 (8-for-14) with a home run, five RBI, three runs, a double, two walks and a stolen base to lead the AU lineup in a four-game series against Purdue Northwest at Donges Field. The Eagles took three of four games from the Pride to climb into a tie for second place. Allen had a hit in all four games, including going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer off PNW ace Chad Patrick on Saturday. He struck out just one time in 17 plate appearances, reaching base at a .625 clip while slugging .857. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Dillon McInereny, Wayne State

Warrior ace Dillon McInereny (Richmond, Mich.) improved to 4-1 and helped Wayne State start the SVSU series with a win by working seven innings and did not allow an earned run on Friday.  He struck out five batter and allowed just five hits and lowered his season ERA to 0.70.  Opponents are hitting .203 off the right-hander.
