GLIAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 1

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the first weekend of competition to commence the 2015 women's soccer season. Findlay senior midfielder Katelyn Anderson earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley State junior goalkeeper Claire Spleth claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Offense
Katelyn Anderson Findlay Midfield Sr.

Highlights: Anderson led the Oilers to a 1-0-1 record over the weekend after a 4-0 victory over St. Joseph's and a 2-2 tie with Southern Indiana. Anderson tallied one goal and one assist in each of Findlay's two games to open the season. For the week, Anderson recorded six shots, including two on target.

Defense
Claire Spleth Saginaw Valley State
Goalkeeper Jr.
Highlights: Spleth had a solid weekend in the Lady Cardinals' two regional match-ups over the weekend. She had five saves and allowed a single Flyer goal with 15 seconds to play in the team's 1-0 loss on Friday. Spleth followed that up with a shutout over #9 Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday, stopping both shots she faced between the posts in the 2-0 victory.
