GLIAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 4

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the final weekend in September. Grand Valley State junior forward Jayma Martin earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while fellow Laker classmate defender Clare Carlson claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Defense
Clare Carlson Grand Valley State Defender Jr.

Highlights: Carlson was heavily involved on both sides of the ball this week. She played an integral role in the team securing two shutouts on defense, including holding Malone without a shot on goal. Offensively, she made an impact from the back line by scoring three goals, including a game winner, while adding an assist. The Lakers defense allowed only four shots on target in three matches and one goal.

Offense
Jayma Martin Grand Valley State Forward Jr.
Highlights: Martin was an integral part of the offense for Grand Valley St. in the last week's games, registering two goals and five assists. Her knack for getting where she needs to be on offense provided a tangible spark for the entire Lakers offense and her ability to assist others in scoring was on full display this week. Jayma registered three assists against SVSU, one helper versus Tiffin and two goals and an assist against Malone. Overall, Martin amassed 10 shots with five on target.
