FSU's Henneman-Dallape and Maat, WSU's Andrews earn GLIAC volleyball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week one of the 2023 volleyball season. Ferris State junior middle hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Bulldog teammate, junior Kaylee Maat, was named GLIAC Setter of the Week. Wayne State sophomore defensive specialist Kendyl Andrews captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades. 


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Olivia Henneman-Dallape, Ferris State

Junior middle hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 mark in FSU's annual home invitational over the weekend, earning all-tournament team recognition. She tallied a team-high 44 kills on the weekend to go with 21 digs and eight total blocks. Overall, she averaged 3.38 kills per frame while hitting .358 overall. Henneman-Dallape had 10 kills or more in all four contests as FSU opened the new Bulldog Arena. She totaled a team-high 12 kills and 10 digs in the lone setback to nationally eighth-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Friday night.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kendyl Andrews, Wayne State

Sophomore defensive specialist Kendyl Andrews was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Tuesday. The honor comes after Andrews racked up 65 total digs and 4.64 per set in Wayne State's first four matches of the season. Making the first starts of her career as the libero, the Flushing, Mich. native notched 20 digs in a pair of outings to go with three service aces for the week.


SETTER OF THE WEEK - Kaylee Maat, Ferris State

Ferris State University standout setter Kaylee Maat earned all-tournament team honors and led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 mark in FSU's annual home invitational this past weekend. Maat tallied 10.77 assists per set while adding 22 digs, 13 kills, nine service aces and three blocks on the weekend. Overall, she totaled 140 assists in 13 sets. She tallied 42 assists in an impressive 3-0 regional win over UIndy to conclude the tourney and had 37 in FSU's lone setback to nationally eighth-ranked Minnesota Duluth. Overall, she tallied 23.5 points on the weekend and posted three service aces apiece in each of FSU's final two outings.
