Northern Michigan's Helm, Budai Named GLIAC Swimmers of Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fourth weekly awards for the swimming and diving season. Northern Michigan freshman Rachel Helm earned GLIAC Female Athlete of the Week accolades, while NMU freshman Lajos Budai captured GLIAC Male Athlete of the Week honors both for the second time this year.


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Rachel Helm, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan freshman Rachel Helm captured six titles in four different disciplines. She won the 25 (13.83) and 100 breaststrokes (1:05.27), the 75 backstroke (41.29), the 100 freestyle (51.86) and the 125 (1:13.70) and 200 (2:04.83) individual medleys.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Lajos Budai, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan freshman Lajos Budai won crowns in five different freestyle and backstroke races. He broke pool and school records in three events: the 100 backstroke (48.44), 50 freestyle (20.82) and 100 freestyle (44.67).
