ATLANTA, Ga. – Michigan Tech leapfrogged Wayne State in the latest USA Today Sports Top 25 Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll. The Huskies are currently ranked No. 11 while the Warriors remain in the No. 12 spot.
Michigan Tech's (20-1, 16-1 GLIAC) Jillian Ritchie helped extend the Huskies' winning streak to 11 games with a trio of wins. She had eight points and seven rebounds in a rivalry win over Northern Michigan on Monday. On Thursday, Ritchie posted a career-high 23 points at Ferris State and followed up with 11 points and eight rebounds at Grand Valley on Saturday, snapping the Lakers' 11-game home win streak. The senior captain helped Tech take a four-game lead in the GLIAC North standings with five games to go.
Wayne State's (19-2, 15-2 GLIAC) Shareta Brown recorded the second triple-double in women's history at WSU in Monday's win over Findlay with 24 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists and five steals. She followed with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists against Tiffin, before recording 33 points, 20 rebounds and four assists in the victory at Ohio Dominican.
Grand Valley State (15-6, 12-5 GLIAC) and Ashland (17-6, 13-4 GLIAC) are receiving votes in this week's poll.
The USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll, with first place votes to the right, total points based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
